Laboratory

Our Laboratory carries out tests and researcg for customers, but also serves as a knowledge and expertise centre for our consultants. The Laboratory has the know-how to carry out analyses, tests and assessments, as in independent laboratory and in accordance with all national and international standards, on a variety of materials such as paint, coatings, wood, steel and concrete. Our services can be subdivided into several main activities.

Coatings research and testing
Our laboratory is fitted with the most advanced equipment to enable us to carry out a range of tests on and research into paint and related products. We carry out chemical analyses, material property tests and environmental tests among other things. We have everything at our disposal ro carry out tests and assessments to national (NEN, BRL), industry (KIWA, SKH, CUR), international (ISO, ASTM, DIN) and customer specific standards (Shell, Agip, NAM and ARAMCO).

Corrosion testing
Another major activity of the laboratory is conducting corrosion tests and research. Not only do we carry out field experiments, we also have the equipment to simulate various forms of corrosion, for example in a saltwater spray test, in a condensation test or in a light exposure test.

Building materials and printer research and testing
You can also call on the laboratory for building materials research and testing services. We can, for example, carry out water vapour tests, hydrophobicity research, tensile, flexural and compressive strength tests and recoatability tests among other things.

In addition to building materials testing, we also assess printers for the use in producing valuable documents such as passports, driving licenses, deeds etcetera. The guideline for these documents is that they have to remain legible for a minimum of 100 years. COT bv approved printers meet this standard.

COT Quality Assurance system
The manufacturer of an approved product can have it added to the COT Quality Assurance system. We will then check annually whether the product meets the quality description requirements of other national of international specifications. This allows you to have quotes submitted based on products with a COT certificate. With the assurance of purchasing a quality product.

Customers
Almost all our customers are Dutch paint an adhesives manufacturers, printer manufacturers, government departments, oil companies, consumer organisations, commercial enterprises, application companies and building contractors. In addition, we also work for several organisations and companies world-wide.

Examples of projects we have carried out include research into wall panelling and adhesives, a large scale durability research of building paints, research into emissions from building materials, printer tests, research into pipeline coatings in the Middle East and the initiation and close monitoring of innovations.
